(January 3, 2022) A new operator with island experience will operate the Children’s Beach concession stand for the next five years.
The Select Board is expected to award the lease for the beachfront snack bar until 2026 to The Surf LLC, which currently operates the Surfside Beach concession, when it meets via Zoom on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
The Surf, led by Abby Shaw and Stacey MacEachern, was the top bidder for the Children’s Beach lease, offering $ 138,144 plus 3% of gross annual income above $ 100,000.
The offers were submitted by current operator The Hungry Minnow, run by Rebecca Chapa, and Terry Noyes’ Beach Yoshi, city manager Libby Gibson said.

Current planning board alternate David Callahan, a real estate agent, and former member Barry Rector, a pharmacist, have applied for the seat until the annual municipal election on May 2.
The board of directors will also vote on new liquor and entertainment license applications for the Broad Street property that once housed The Brotherhood of Thieves restaurant, reconsider the revocation of the Ted Lambrecht seashell oyster license and hold a public hearing on the draft municipal budget for next year.
